The Eastern Dog Club returned to the Big E in Springfield, MA on Saturday and Sunday December 9th and 10th, 2023 following the Thursday and Friday shows of its partner the Champlain Valley Kennel Club.
When the doors opened one was immediately struck by the festive central display of the show club's banner and sparkling array of antique sterling silver Best in Show and Group trophies next to Take the Lead's dazzling display of raffle baskets, all wrapped up in holiday colors and surrounded by brightly lit Christmas trees and colorful Poinsettia plants.
Show Chairman John Schneiter, and Chief Steward Alex Wheeler, assisted by the Club President Robert Abraham and the other Officers and Members, as well as the key stewards that work all the Big E shows, kept everything running smoothly.
The exhibitors and handlers who have so faithfully supported us in the past in Boston and Providence, as well as in Springfield last year, came to the fore once again with a good entry that, as is typical for Eastern shows, included many of the nation's top ranked dogs. Best in Show was awarded Saturday to David Fizpatrick's Pekingese Ch. Pequest General Tso, and on Sunday to the Colored Bull Terrier Ch. Notorious Never Say Never owned by Amy and Phil Jaspers and handled by Adam Bernardin.
It's not hard to see why the Big E continues to be such a popular dog show venue, well lit spacious rings and grooming area, good location, easy access, plenty of parking, good economical lodging and a wide variety of fine restaurants nearby.
All involved are already making preparations for 2024 Stay tuned !
Next Eastern Dog Shows will be held at the Big E Springfield, MA
December 7th and 8th 2024. Hope to see you there
